Companies don't decide.
People decide for them.

I write about management from what I lived inside operations, not from what I read about them. My work is published in Brazil by Veritas do Brasil. The Money Brain examines what neuroscience has revealed about the financial choices of people who run a business, and the trilogy Sistema Neuroestratégico da Liderança looks at how teams actually perform.

How this began

I started writing because of something that kept bothering me in the field. I would see companies with well written processes losing clients, missing deadlines and redoing work. And I would see disorganised companies, with no manual at all, serving people well and growing. It made no sense.

It took me a while to understand. What separated one from the other was not on paper. It was in the way people behaved in front of what had been written, and nobody had written anything about that.

It was not a study that turned into a book. It was field observation that demanded study, and the study is what turned into a book.

The Money Brain

Why smart people sabotage their financial decisions, and how neurostrategy changes the pattern

Every business owner believes they decide based on numbers. Research shows otherwise. Financial choices are born before the arithmetic, on ground made of fear, habit and the stories we tell ourselves about money. This book walks that ground with a practical purpose: helping the person in charge recognise their own pattern before it becomes expensive.

The argument is carried by real cases, including my own. The book opens with a loss of eighty four thousand reais that took me six years to see.

The Brazilian edition of The Money Brain

The same investigation, written first in Portuguese and addressed to Brazilian business owners. Readers who work in both languages often keep the two side by side, since the case material is drawn from Brazilian operations.

A series in three volumes

Sistema Neuroestratégico da Liderança

Three books that follow the same path in the order it actually unfolds inside a company. First seeing what is broken, then building the structure that holds performance together, and finally caring for the people working inside it when pressure rises.

The trilogy is published in Portuguese

Fear produces obedience. Psychological safety produces invention.

From readers who applied it

Endorsements published in the printed edition of Gente que Faz o Negócio Crescer, reproduced with permission and translated from Portuguese.

Rafael doesn't just understand people, he transforms them. His neurostrategic approach completely changed the way we lead our team, and the results went beyond every expectation.
Rafael PinheiroHead of IT · Guaratuba City Hall
After applying the techniques from the book to how we run the clinic, the mood of the team changed, engagement grew and service became personal. We beat our target in a period that is historically weak for us. The difference showed in practice.
Daienne JuliãoAdministrator · Procic Odontologia, Curitiba
It offers a practical approach to how a leader can influence people, create belonging and connect individual goals to what the organisation is trying to achieve. Essential reading for anyone pursuing personal, professional and organisational growth.

Rafael delivers scientific clarity with practical application, something rarely found in management books. He translates neuroscience in a plain and direct way. I liked it a great deal and I recommend it.

It changed the way I see selling and the way I deal with clients. The reading is light, practical, and produces real results for anyone working with customers and management day to day.

The method

NEURO

The NEURO Method came out of something that kept bothering me in the field. I would see companies with well written processes losing clients and redoing work, and disorganised companies with no manual serving people well and growing.

What separated one from the other was not on paper. It was in the way people behaved in front of what had been written.

That is where the five axes came from. They work together, and it helps to know that before starting: none of them holds up results on its own, and the weakest one limits the reach of the other four.

The five axes were formulated on the basis of a survey with 202 respondents across 12 countries, together with direct observation of operations in transport, industry and services.

N

Neuroscience of trust

Teams working under fear hide their mistakes. A hidden mistake does not stop existing, it only becomes more expensive.

E

Engagement and purpose

People who understand where their own work touches the result take better care of the detail. That cannot be bought with a bonus.

U

Universality of learning

Knowledge held in a few heads is an operational risk. Written down and teachable, it becomes an asset of the company.

R

Strategic results

A few indicators, read often and with a named owner, change behaviour more than extensive dashboards.

O

Sustainable optimisation

Efficiency gained at the cost of the operation is not saving. It is loss with an expiry date.

Self-assessment instrument

The five axes applied to your own situation

One question per axis, in the short form used in the field. The result is not a diagnosis, but it points to where your attention is worth most right now. Nothing is recorded anywhere.

Long biography · 180 words

Rafael Ruffo is a business administrator and author. His training in management was built inside operations rather than at a distance from them. Before writing about leadership, he led teams in environments where a mistake carries immediate consequence, and that has shaped decisively the way he treats the subject.

He is the author of The Money Brain, which examines what neuroscience has revealed about the financial choices of people who run a business, published in Portuguese as Mente, Dinheiro e Decisão. The trilogy Sistema Neuroestratégico da Liderança, made up of Diagnóstico Estrutural da Liderança, Engenharia da Performance das Equipes and Liderança Humana, completes his investigation into collective performance.

He created the NEURO Method, a five-axis framework supported by a survey of 202 respondents across 12 countries and by direct observation of operations in transport, industry and services. Registered with CRA-PR under number 32125, he runs leadership development programmes and speaks at universities and companies. He lives in Paranaguá, Brazil.
